The first Sunday following the Festival's official opening weekend is dedicated to a very brave boy who never made it to see the Festivals lights.

The second Sunday of the Festival is a special night. Each year since the Festival began, The Alberta Children’s Hospital recognizes the need of one family to have a respite from their challenges and arrange to bring them to the Festival by limosine.

Our special guests are taken to the Airdrie Emergency Services location where they are greeted by the Airdrie EMS team and given a special tour of the station and trucks. They are then escorted by Santa in a big red fire truck to the Festival and enjoy as much time at the park as they can and then get a chance to unwind with dinner at Airdrie’s Mr Mike's restaurant.

This special event has been sponsored by Five Star Communications since it began in 1996.
